
On Monday, February 22, social inventories of primary aluminium expanded by 121,000 tonnes across eight major consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, found the Shanghai Metals Market. SMM data showed inventories stood at 1.022 million tonnes on February 22 compared to 901,000 tonnes on February 18.
Higher arrivals of stocks to Wuxi, Nanhai, and Gongyi primarily contributed to the increase in primary aluminium inventories on February 22.

Wuxi saw the highest growth in inventories of 70,000 tonnes to stand at 378,000 tonnes on February 22, followed by the hike of 27,000 tonnes in Nanhai to 233,000 tonnes. In Gongyi, primary aluminium inventories rose 19,000 tonnes to 167,000 tonnes, while in Hangzhou and Shanghai, stocks improved by 4,000 tonnes and 1,000 tonnes, respectively, to come in at 97,000 tonnes and 82,000 tonnes.
In Tianjin, Chongqing, and Linyi, however, inventories remained restrained at 54,000 tonnes, 2,000 tonnes, and 9,000 tonnes, respectively.
