Canadian Solar, a Chinese module producer, is exhibiting its 700 W bifacial TOPCon solar modules this week at Intersolar Europe in Munich, Germany. Canadian Solar said in December 2022 that it will commence mass manufacturing of TOPCon solar modules in the first quarter of 2023.

IP68 junction boxes and anodized aluminium alloy frames are standard on the modules. They can work in temperatures ranging from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius with a system voltage of 1,500 volts. The double-glass panels weigh 37.8 kg and measure 2,384 x 1,303 x 33 mm. They have 2.0 mm heat-strengthened glass with an anti-reflective coating on the front and a 2.0 mm glass layer on the rear.

“Canadian Solar’s TOPCon modules will increase the energy yield of PV systems and deliver one of the most competitive balance of system (BOS) cost savings and levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) for solar power plants, compared to PERC modules,” said the company.
The 132-cell TOPBiHiKu7 solar modules are available in six variants, with power outputs ranging from 675 W to 700 W and efficiencies varying from 21.7 per cent to 22.5 per cent. They have a bifacial gain of 20% and an efficiency range of 26.1 per cent to 27.0 per cent.
The open-circuit voltage is between 46.9 V and 47.9 V, while the short-circuit current is between 18.24 A and 18.49 A. The PV panels have a 12-year product warranty and a power output guarantee of 30 years. Over 30 years, annual linear deterioration is 0.4 per cent, but degradation in the first year is limited to 1.0 per cent.
