Gautam Solar, a solar module producer, debuted N-type TOPCon (Tunnel oxide passivated contact) and Mono PERC Solar modules at Intersolar Europe, a key event for the solar industry. In contrast to the traditional design with a white back-sheet and silver anodised aluminium alloy frame, the new solar modules have a black back-sheet and black anodised aluminium alloy frame.
According to the company, lightweight bifacial modules include a high-quality transparent back-sheet that offers strong rear side power while keeping the module's weight low, minimising handling concerns. These have 108 half-cut cells on an M10 wafer.

TOPCon solar modules are available in two sizes: 420 Wp-435 Wp for distributors, EPCs, and developers in the residential, commercial, and industrial (C&I) sectors and 565 Wp-580 Wp for utility-scale and big C&I clients. The 420 Wp-435 Wp TOPCon solar modules from Gautam Solar are offered in four configurations: all black, silver frame, glass-to-glass bifacial, and lightweight bifacial. These solar modules are under 2 m2 in size, per local regulations.
"Gautam Solar has long been heralded as a technologically driven brand with its strong R&D base. The company has multiple Intellectual Properties (IPs), including patents and design registrations to its name. The launch of our N-type TOPCon and all black solar modules is in line with our proactive approach. Europe is an important market for Indian Solar Module Manufacturers and our new products with higher efficiencies are ideal for Europe," said CEO of Gautam Solarn Gautam Mohanka.
Fraunhofer ISE in Germany was the first to create the N-Type TOPCon technology. TOPCon solar modules can produce more power than P-type modules while remaining the same size, resulting in more energy per unit area. Furthermore, TOPCon is the subject of many studies, as a consequence of which its efficiency is gradually growing compared to Ptype, whose efficiency limit has been reached.
