Mount Ridley Mines has reported 94.9 per cent gallium recovery from a third-party bauxite sample using its patent-pending Selectro process, alongside recoveries of 92 per cent aluminium and 97 per cent iron in a single low-temperature leach. The test also produced a silica-rich residue instead of conventional red mud, highlighting the technology’s potential to recover multiple metals from bauxite through one processing route. The sample was provided by Australian Silica Quartz Group from its Darling Range bauxite project in Western Australia. Indonesia presumes $3.7 billion in investments for mining and refinery projects to be delayed to 2021 if the COVID-19 pandemic lingers until the end of 2020, as per a mining official. Andru Minerals, which owns eight mining leases in Vanthada village of Prathipadu Mandal, East Godavari district, has claimed that the allegations made on them of sending the laterite that they mine to Vedanta hold no truth, according to a recent report. In a press release, Andru Minerals stated that some cement companies use their laterite but not Vedanta. Hydro’s production at Paragominas bauxite mine is at a temporary halt due to power supply cut as three power transmission towers overturned on Saturday, June 20. Repair work has started and regular power supply to Paragominas is expected to resume within the next two to three weeks. The Paragominas mine delivers bauxite to Alunorte alumina refinery in Barcarena via a 244-kilometre-long-pipeline.
