Bauxite price in China records a drop today while alumina price rises

According to Shanghai Metals Market, the price of Bauxite(6.0≤Al/Si＜7.0)Shanxi has recorded a fall today, April 30, by RMB 10 per tonne to stand at RMB 540 per tonne. January 1, 2019, was the last time when Bauxite(6.0≤Al/Si＜7.0)Shanxi price had recorded a fall from RMB 570 per tonne to RMB 550 per tonne, followed which the price continued to show restraint until today.

The price of Bauxite(6.0≤Al/Si＜7.0)Henan has also registered a drop today, but by RMB 20 per tonne to stand at RMB 500 per tonne. The Bauxite(6.0≤Al/Si＜7.0)Henan price had fallen previously on April 22 from RMB 530 per tonne to RMB 520 per tonne. Since then the price remained unchanged until today.

The alumina spot price, on the other hand, continues to grow, found Shanghai Metals Market. The price today has grown to RMB 2,760 per tonne marking a climb by RMB 10 per tonne. Also, in all the major markets of east, north, central, and south, the alumina spot price has increased by RMB 10 per tonne to stand at RMB 2,770 per tonne, RMB 2,760 per tonne, and RMB 2,730 per tonne, respectively.

The Australian alumina FOB price shows restraint today as well and hovering at US$363 per tonne.

The price of A00 aluminium ingot, however, fails to continue to grow today, learned SMM. Inching down by RMB 10 per tonne, the A00 aluminium ingot price is hovering at RMB 14,180 per tonne, as of today. The average prices are expected to range between RMB 14,160 per tonne and RMB 14,120 per tonne, while the spot aluminium contract is likely to be traded at the same discount of RMB 30 per tonne to a premium of RMB 10 per tonne.

But the decline in aluminium ingot price today has not touched upon all the major markets of China. Only in FoShan and Chongqing, the A00 aluminium ingot price has dipped by RMB 10 per tonne to stand at RMB 14,200 per tonne. In Wuxi, Hangzhou, Tianjin, and Linyi, the price has grown to RMB 14,185 per tonne, RMB 14,210 per tonne and RMB 14,230 per tonne, respectively.
