
The country's top seven industries in order are steel, coal, iron ore, lead, zinc, manganese and aluminium. Mining output, which accounted for more than 10% of industrial production, rose by 10.4% in 2000. Bosnia and Herzegovina was a major centre for metallurgical industries in the former Yugoslavia and a major producer of bauxite, alumina, and aluminium.
Bosnia-Herzegovina has a transitional economy with limited market reforms. The economy relies heavily on the export of metals, energy, textiles, and furniture as well as on remittances and foreign aid.

The Southern European nation’s bauxite export during 2017-19 reflects growth, as the export volume stands at 68,539 tonnes and revenue earning remained at $2.25 million. The forecasted export for 2020 has been earmarked at 33,159 tonnes and the earning to reach $1.18 million. Furthermore, when the analysed export volume and earnings of 2020 get added with the previous three years it exhibits 101,698 tonnes and $3.43 million respectively.
In 2017, Bosnia-Herzegovina’s bauxite export was recorded at 10,546 tonnes and revenue generations stood at $0.29 million, while in 2018 bauxite export saw growth by 143.43% and revenue earnings also saw a rise to $.80 million.
The country’s bauxite export in 2019 again reflected growth by 25.89%, as the export volume climbed to 32,320 tonnes and earnings stood at $1.16 million, whereas the projected export for 2020 has also been revealed with 2.59% growth and earning to reach $1.18 million, the highest in the phase.
The major importing nations for Bosnia-Herzegovina’s export of bauxite are Croatia, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, etc.
