As agreed, Azerbaijan will play an active role in collecting capital for the construction of the Tajik Aluminium Company (TALCO) and exporting alumina to Tajikistan. In return, Azerbaijan will secure aluminium, cryolite, and aluminium fluoride from Tajikistan.

Azerbaijan and Tajikistan entered into this agreement after the sixth session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation on July 7. The deal outlines bilateral cooperation and sets the stage for further collaboration between the two countries.

Sustainability in the Global Aluminium Industry

Azerbaijan and Tajikistan already share a business relationship. According to the State Customs Committee, Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with Tajikistan amounted to $1.349 million for the first five months of 2023.
