US sanctions may lead to shutdown of Russian automaker GAZ, says Oleg Deripaska

In the opinion of Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, his automaking company GAZ could be forced to close by the summer if the United States does not revome the sanctions. Perhaps, July 4 could be the last working day for the company, said Deripaska to journalists during an organised visit on Tuesday, April 16, to the auto giant’s sprawling plant. He particularly said, “If the factory is not able to return to normal business after Jul 4, then there is no chance it can survive." The US Treasury has lifted sanctions against EN+ group, Rusal aluminium giant and EuroSibEnergo Power Company as Deripaska has ceded control of those companies. But since the businessman is yet to cede his control of GAZ, the US has not removed the sanctions against it until now. However, according to Deripaska, the...

Moreover, brands and retailers are looking for more durability and don’t want signages made of acryclic, which is the reason why the company is investing in this machine, added Mr. Dsilva. “We have...

China’s secondary aluminium operating rates record growth in March

According to Shanghai Metals Market, operating rates across secondary aluminium producers in China have recorded a growth of 22.02 percentage points month-on-month and 0.3 percentage point year-on-year to average at 61.12 per cent in March. This hike in secondary aluminium operating rates is attributable to weak export prices that drove aluminium scrap producers to focus on the domestic market rather than sending the scrap overseas. Increasing demand is also a reason for the growth in secondary aluminium operating rates, particularly for the sharp month-on-month rise. Downstream buyers had brought forward their April orders to chase VAT invoices with a rate of 16 per cent before the tax cuts took effect and that resulted in demand increase. However, in April, the operating rates across...

Phillip Gallagher, Canyon managing director said, “It is pleasing to see that the untested bauxite plateau that can be seen into the distance when visiting the project are all at a similar elevation as the identified high-grade...
