Rusal, the Russian aluminium giant, has reportedly announced the achievement of Aluminium Stewardship Initiative certification for its four additional production sites. The four sites include Rusal’s Kandalaksha aluminium smelter, two aluminium foil plants Sayanal and Armenal (Armenia), and Europe’s largest alumina refinery Aughinish at Ireland. They are certified against the ASI Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Standard certifications, bringing the total number of ASI Rusal certificates to 13. The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has certified OETINGER Aluminium against the Performance Standard Certification with Provisional status for the production of aluminium alloys from scrap and recycled materials at Weißenhorn and Neu-Ulm plants in Germany. According to a report on January 17, 2022, Hydro will establish a new photovoltaic power system at its aluminium extrusion plant in Trzcianka, Poland. The power system will expectedly come into operation in Q3, 2022, to generate 7.5GWh/year of power to supply electricity to the new 8-inch extrusion press, currently under construction.
