
LME aluminium opened at US$3,047 per tonne on Thursday and closed at US$3,115 per tonne, an increase of US$62 per tonne or 2.03 per cent.

On Thursday, January 20, LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME aluminium official settlement price soared by US$74 per tonne and US$73.50 per tonne, respectively, to close at US$3,109 per tonne and US$3,109.50 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price also grew significantly by US$53.50 per tonne and US$55 per tonne to come in at US$3,080 per tonne and US$3,082 per tonne. However, December 23 bid price and December 23 offer price dropped by US$5 per tonne to stand at US$2,728 per tonne and US$2,733 per tonne.
LME aluminium opening stock decreased to 873650 tonnes. Live warrants and Cancelled warrants for the same day was found at 464100 tonnes and 409550 tonnes, respectively.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price closed at US$3,047.40 per tonne on January 20.

SHFE aluminium price
On Friday, January 21, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE has grown by US$6 per tonne to stand at US$3,374.
The most-traded SHFE 2203 aluminium closed down 0.09 per cent or RMB 20 per tonne to RMB 21,485 per tonne, with open interest down 7301 lots to 214566 lots.
Overnight, the most-traded SHFE 2203 aluminium contract opened at RMB 21,600 per tonne, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 21,805 per tonne and RMB 21,500 per tonne before closing at RMB 21,700 per tonne, up RMB 210 per tonne or 0.98 per cent.
