According to the global export-import data, Austria’s aluminium cans export is seeing a drop over the years after its last rise in 2017 from 15,264 tonnes in 2016 to 18,237 tonnes. In 2018, the country’s aluminium cans export volume had stood at 17,938 tonnes, down 1.63 per cent year on year. In 2019, the decline is likely to extend further to 16,118 tonnes, down 10 per cent from the previous year.

However, despite the sluggish export amount of aluminium cans by Austria in 2018, the country’s export value in the said year had recorded a growth of 25.33 per cent from US$75 million in 2017 to US$94 million. On the other hand, in 2017 when the export volume had increased from the previous year, the value registered a drop from US$79 million in 2016, down 5.06 per cent. This year, in tandem with the fall in export amount, Austria’s aluminium cans export value is likely to stand lower by 14 per cent year on year totalling at US$81 million,

Poland, Germany, France are estimated to be the top three countries this year to which Austria will export its aluminium cans. To Poland, Austria is expected to supply 3,855 tonnes at US$13 million and to Germany and France 3,150 tonnes and 2,400 tonnes at US$14 million and US$15 million, respectively.
It is to be now concluded here by mentioning that the global demand for aluminium cans are otherwise estimated to increase between 3.7-4 per cent over the next five years. According to a report, the global aluminium cans market had approximately generated US$39.41 million in 2018, which by 2025 is expected to grow to US$48.15 million.
