Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has certified Kunshan Aluminium Co., Ltd. against Custody Standard Certification for its production facilities in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province. The news came after ASI officially announced on Wednesday, September 23, that it successfully certified the facility for responsible and sustainable aluminium foil production.

The facility’s products are destined for the use in downstream sectors, including food, cigarettes, medicine, daily necessities, cosmetics, and other high-end packaging foil and high-grade foil for the electronics industry. The plant has a capacity of 25,000 tonnes of aluminium foil per year.
In February 2020, Kunshan Aluminium Co., Ltd. achieved ASI Performance Standard Certification.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI said, “We warmly congratulate Kunshan Aluminium Co., Ltd. on achieving ASI Chain of Custody Certification. Aluminium foil producers can play an important role to communicate the sustainability benefits of aluminium products to a broader audience, simply because their foils are used in so many downstream applications, including a wide array of consumer products. When paired with appropriate upstream sourcing, the ASI Chain of Custody certification is an important step that enables this communication, through the use of on-product labels and statements.”
Mr. Yuan Bisheng, General Manager of Kunshan Aluminium Co., Ltd., said: “First of all, we are very honoured to be certified by the ASI Chain of Custody. Thank you ASI for the official recognition of our company. In the future, Kunshan Aluminium Co., Ltd will continue to use its influence to further promote the active participation of suppliers for mutual benefit and contribute to the realization of global aluminium responsible procurement and sustainable development of aluminium.”
The independent, third-party audits of the Kunshan Aluminium Co., Ltd. facility was carried out by DNV GL.
