Aluminium Stewardship Initiative announced on Tuesday, June 27, that it successfully certified Fusão Ligas Comércio e Indústria Ltda. (Fusão Ligas) against the Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certification. The company’s production unit at João Monlevade, Minas Gerais, Brazil, has acquired the certification for manufacturing products from industrial byproducts and waste such as slag and sludge generated from aluminium smelting.
So, the company’s main business area is recycling and reusing aluminium byproducts into high-quality raw materials for use in various industry sectors.
Fusão Ligas Comércio e Indústria Ltda. was founded in 2003 with a focus on sustainability by decommissioning and managing industrial waste. It operates in the north, south, northeast and soueast of Brazil, with headquarters in six Brazilian states.
The company’s unwavering effort towards ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) initiatives has brought it the ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) certification, which defines ESG principles and criteria to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain.

The independent, third-party audit of Fusão Ligas’ João Monlevade facility was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd.
