American Steel and Aluminum (ASA) has opened a new 50,000 square-foot integrated contract  manufacturing facility in Syracuse, New York. The new site is the company’s second facility in the city and is aimed at increasing production and processing capacity.

The expansion comes as demand rises from sectors such as data centre infrastructure, defence, renewable energy, and industrial manufacturing. ASA said the additional facility will help increase output, reduce delivery times, and add more processing capabilities closer to customers.

Sam Blatchford, President of ASA, said, "This expansion is a direct response to what we're hearing from the market. Our customers in data centres, defence, and energy are scaling fast, and they need a domestic manufacturer who can scale with them. That's exactly what we're building in Syracuse."

The company said the expansion also reflects broader changes in the US manufacturing sector. The growth of data centres and energy infrastructure projects is increasing demand for steel components and industrial products. At the same time, defence companies and manufacturers are looking for suppliers that can provide traceable products and reduce dependence on overseas supply chains.

ASA operates with a vertically integrated model, meaning it manages production from domestic raw steel to finished products. The company said the new facility will add more space for processing, fabrication, and order fulfilment, allowing it to handle larger and more complex projects.

With the addition of the new site, ASA now operates more than 450,000 square feet of manufacturing and processing space across facilities in Maine, Massachusetts, New York, and New Hampshire.
