T.RAD North America, an aluminum parts manufacturer and supplier to the automotive, motorcycle and all-terrain vehicle markets, said Monday it will invest $10.8 million in production upgrades at its aluminum and copper/brass plants in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, over the next year.

The project includes the purchase of new equipment to increase production capacity and meet the demand for lighter weight aluminum products, the company said. The expansion also will place all administrative staff from both the aluminum and copper/brass divisions in one location in Hopkinsville, in Christian County.

The investment will allow the company to retain its existing workforce of 410 people. Capacity figures were not disclosed.

In 1988, Toyo Radiator, now T.RAD Japan, located its first plant in Hopkinsville, starting with about 50 employees.

T.RAD North America produces aluminum radiators and air coolers for automobiles, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and off-highway equipment. The company says it is the leading supplier of aluminum radiators and air coolers to the motorcycle and ATV markets in the US.
