
According to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organisation (IMIDRO), aluminium ingot production in Iran during the first five months of the Iranian calendar year (March 21-August 22) amounted to 267,983 tonnes, reflecting a drop of 3,243 tonnes or 1.20 per cent from 271,226 tonnes a year ago.

South Aluminum Corporation (SALCO), Iran's one of the four major primary aluminium producers, delivered the best performance, producing 119,886 tonnes of aluminium ingots during the said period. Iranian Aluminum Company (IRALCO) produced 71,984 tonnes, followed by Almahdi Aluminum Company 60,778 tonnes, and Iran Alumina Company 15,335 tonnes of ingots.
IMIDRO previously published that aluminium ingot production in Iran during the previous year ended March 20 stood at 632,166 tonnes, of which South Aluminum Corporation (SALCO) accounted for 42.74 per cent, producing 270,185 tonnes.
Iranian Aluminum Company (IRALCO) produced 178,077 tonnes, Almahdi Aluminum Company churned out 147,749 tonnes, and Iran Alumina Company generated 36,155 tonnes of aluminium ingots.
Iran’s aluminium sector is estimated to be valued at $22 billion, which is sufficient to meet the country’s aluminium needs. At present, Iran is the 18th biggest aluminium producer in the world.
