Aluminium highlights for U.S. and Canada for the month of October

Estimated shipments of Aluminum Foil by U.S. and Canadian producers totaled 81.7 million pounds during October 2013, up 1.4 percent over the October 2012 total of 80.6 million pounds. Compared to the previous month, shipments rose six-tenths of one percent over the September 2013 revised total of 81.2 million pounds. Year-to-date shipments through October 2013 totaled 863.3 million pounds, off six-tenths of one percent from the 2012 year-to-date total of 868.9 million pounds.

Shipments of Aluminum Forgings and Impacts by U.S. and Canadian producers totaled 26.4 million pounds during October 2013, an increase of 10.6 percent over the October 2012 total of 23.9 million pounds. Compared to the previous month, shipments rose 5.0 percent over the September 2013 total of 25.2 million pounds. Year-to-date shipments through October 2013 totaled 244.0 million pounds, off 3.8 percent from the 2012 year-to-date total of 253.6 million pounds.

Shipments of Aluminum Powder and Paste to domestic markets by domestic producers, including imports by producers, totaled 6.65 million pounds during October 2013, a decline of 2.5 percent from the October 2012 total of 6.82 million pounds. Compared to the previous month, shipments rose three-tenths of one percent over the September 2013 total of 6.63 million pounds. Year-to-date shipments through October 2013 totaled 67.17 million pounds, off 11.2 percent from the 2012 year-to-date total of 75.60 million pounds.
