
In October 2021, alumina production in Africa & Asia (ex-China) stood at 1.09 million tonnes, reflecting a decrease of 1 per cent month-on-month, found the International Aluminium Institute (IAI). In September, alumina output in Africa & Asia (ex-China) was 1.100 million tonnes, down by 2.22 per cent from 1.125 million tonnes in August 2021. This indicates that alumina production in Africa & Asia (ex-China) recorded a second straight month of decline in October 2021.

However, on a year-on-year calculation, the output stood 8.35 per cent higher than 1.006 million tonnes.
From January to October 2021, Africa & Asia’s alumina production totalled 10.894 million tonnes, up by 6.27 per cent from 10.251 million tonnes during the same period last year.
Global alumina production in October 2021 came in at 11.601 million tonnes, with a daily average output of 374,200 tonnes. On a month-on-month calculation, world alumina production in October stood 3.71 per cent higher than 11.186 million tonnes, and on a year-on-year, up by 9.19 per cent from 10.625 million tonnes.

Daily average output edged 0.35 per cent higher than 372,900 tonnes in September 2021 and 1 per cent than 370,500 tonnes in October 2020.
