Alumina continues steady rise in China, A00 Aluminum Ingot drops across major market

Shanghai Metals Market Statistics shows the average spot alumina price has been rising steadily and slowly through September to stand at RMB 3205.29/tonne for the month average. On September 25, Monday, the average alumina price stands at RMB 3532/tonne, an increase from RMB 3507/tonne yesterday.

Alumina price from large scale alumina enterprises also climbed up in September.  On September 25, Chalco alumina price stands at RMB 3540/tonne from RMB 3390/tonne yesterday and is expected to move within a range of RMB 3,490- 3,590/t.

In the imported alumina market; monthly average price stands at RMB 3152.35/tonne and today’s price stands unchanged at RMB 3400/tonne.

Today’s spot alumina prices in the domestic markets are shown in the table below:

As for other raw materials are concerned, Average prebaked anode prices in East Chin, Central China, Southwest China and Northwest China market have remained flat at RMB 4415/t, RMB4220/t, RMB4275/t and RMB4600/t for a week. 

Bauxite prices in all provinces including Shanxi and Henan have remained unchanged today.

Trading was poor in Guangdong aluminium market on Monday as buyers are on a cash crunch at the end of the quarter. Traded prices were mainly between RMB 16,200-16,240 yuan/tonne, premium of RMB 60/tonne over Shanghai.  

A00 Aluminum Ingot prices dropped across all major markets after the big leap on Wednesday. The average price of A00 Aluminium Ingot would range between RMB 16,150 – 16,190/t and today’s average price stands at RMB16,170/t, further down from RMB 16,230/t on September 22.
