Alucoat, based in Linares, Spain, has recently attained certification under the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) for producing aluminium lacquer-coated coils and honeycomb core sheets. This certification, announced by the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI), underscores Alucoat's commitment to sustainability in manufacturing materials across various sectors, including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and construction.

"Alucoat is very pleased to obtain the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Certification for Performance Standard (V3 2022) as a commitment to improve sustainability throughout the aluminium value chain, working with our stakeholders and with SDG 17 partnerships for the goals. Alucoat is in the process of implementing improvements in ASI's sustainability priorities of Climate, including increased recycled inputs and solar installation; Circularity, including aluminium recovery measures, reduction of raw material use, efficient water management, segregation and separation of aluminium alloys, application of the waste hierarchy and our new Zero Waste Certification; Nature Positive, including in relation to SDG 14 Life below water and SDG 15 Life on land; and Human Rights, including local community development, workers rights and health and safety management with our new ISO 45001 certification," said José Manuel González Plaza, General Manager at Alucoat.
TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH conducted an independent, third-party audit of the Alucoat facility. The ASI Certification program, developed through extensive collaboration among stakeholders, is a leading voluntary sustainability standard within the aluminium industry. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022), introduced in May 2022 after a rigorous multi-stakeholder revision process, establishes 11 principles and 62 criteria across three sustainability pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance.
“We congratulate ALUCOAT for achieving Performance Standard Certification V3 (2022) at its Linares facility. In food applications, coated foils act as a barrier against light, moisture, gases, and liquids to protect the content’s quality, thus reducing spoilage loss and extending storage life. This Certification demonstrates ALUCOAT’s commitment to implementing responsible production practices and addressing the social, environmental, and governance impacts of their operations,” stated Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative.
