On Monday, August 26, the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative announced that it successfully certified Cameroon’s primary aluminium producer, Alucam, against the Performance Standard V3 (2022) certification.

Alucam has reportedly bagged the certification for primary aluminium smelting, including the production of green anodes at their paste plant, anode baking and rodding, casting aluminium ingots and slabs, rolling of slabs, and coating of coils at the plant in Edea, Cameroon.
ASI has also recognised the company for managing industrial waste at the landfill in Sikoum and handling coke, pitch, and alumina at the seaport and logistics site in Douala, Cameroon.
The main activities of the facilities include aluminium smelting, aluminium casting, rolling, and coating of aluminium coils, with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tonnes.
Alucam received the ASI certification after an independent, third-party audit by Certainable GmbH.
Alucam joined the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative as a Production and Transformation member in March 2022. It is a public capital company, with 93.3 per cent of shares held by the Government of Cameroon.
