
Altech Chemicals has just released December 2016 Quarterly Activities Report and cash flow update. The highlights of the report show steady growth of its HPA project.

Altech opens Malaysian subsidiary office at Johor HPA site, which is close to site of proposed HPA plant. Applications for various permits and approvals have also commenced for future operations.
The company has started soil survey at Johor HPA site. The soil survey drilling plays an important part in the detailed civil design and engineering of the project.
Altech confirms that HPA project is making regular progress and is nearing completion. The detailed design is progressing as planned without any major flaw. Permission for the plant construction has been commenced. Altech has also submitted mining proposal for Meckering to DMP. The mining is going to be simple quarry-style operation without drilling and blast, once every three years for duration of two months. Kaolin containers will be shipped to HPA plant in Johor via port of Fremantle, Western Australia.

Altech confirms robust outlook for global HPA demand. The company says global HPA demand increased by 19.5% in 2015. The company projects an annual HPA demand forecast of 86,831tpa by 2024 and the estimate for 2016 stands at about 25,315tpa. Altech also endorses its strategy of focusing on 4N HPA. HPA use in lithium-ion batteries offers solid demand growth projections. The company reports the current HPA price in Japan is about US$30,000/t.
