Vneet S Jaain, a director at Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL), said: "We are the first company in India which has set up ingot and wafers factory of 2 gigawatts and we have already started production."

The Group aims to become India's first integrated renewable energy player, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of India becoming a net-zero country by 2070.

By 2030, the Adani Group, led by billionaire Gautam Adani, aims to generate 45 gigawatts (GW) of renewable power, the two-thirds of which is to be produced at its $18.01 billion worth Khavda renewable energy park in Gujarat, bordering Pakistan.

Adani is turning Mundra, the Indian state of Gujarat, into a renewable energy manufacturing hub. It will expand its solar cell and wind turbine making capacities by investing more than INR 300 billion ($3.6 billion), said Mr Jaain.

The Group currently produces 4-GW solar cells and modules, which are mostly exported to the United States, and manufactures 1.5 GW wind turbines, said Jaain, adding the plan to increase the solar cell capacity to 10 GW and wind turbine production to 5GW by March 2027.

Adani also aims to turn its INR 1.5 trillion worth 30-GW Khayda project into the world's biggest renewable energy park, producing 26 GW of solar power and 4 GW of wind energy by 2030.

All these renewable energy projects are also expected to ramp up the consumption of extruded aluminium products in India as they are the ideal material for the construction of solar and wind energy systems.

AL Circle's brand new industry report - "The World of ALuminium Extrusions - Industry forecast to 2030" has highlighted that aluminium extrusions find application in the form of frames (panels) and mounting systems in the solar power industry. Solar panel frames use anodised aluminium profile with a twin-wall profile and drainage holes. Commonly used aluminium alloys in solar panels are 6063, 6061, 6060 and 6005.
