Accuride to Invest $75 Million in Upgrades
Accuride’s CEO Rick Dauch said that $20 million of the company’s investment this year will go to boosting its aluminum wheel output, on top of $35 million invested in 2011.
The parts maker will install new machining lines and equipment and complete other facility improvements at its aluminum wheel plants in Erie, Pa.; Camden, S.C.; and Monterrey, Mexico. The company will also transfer some equipment between the plants to facilitate increased output.
Once completed, the changes will double the company’s aluminum wheel production capacity at the Monterrey and Camden plants, Accuride said.
In addition to aluminum and steel wheels, Accuride makes brake drum components and assemblies, truck body and chassis parts, and other commercial vehicle parts.
