Vedanta Aluminium reported record quarterly production across aluminium, alumina and value-added products in Q2 FY27, supported by capacity expansion and efficiency improvements. Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited, India’s largest aluminium producer, recorded its highest-ever quarterly aluminium production of 649,000 tonnes in Q2 FY27, up 5 per cent year on year from 617,000 tonnes in Q2 FY26. Aluminium output also increased 3 per cent quarter on quarter from 632,000 tonnes in Q1 FY27. For the first half of FY27, production reached a record 1,281,000 tonnes, up 5 per cent from 1,222,000 tonnes in H1 FY26. The Russian aluminium giant and one of the leading producers of aluminium in the world, RUSAL, initiated using end-of-life aluminium scrap to produce foundry alloys for the automotive industry. RUSAL reduced the new product's total carbon footprint by nearly 20 per cent due to this production. The Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) has been charged by the national director of A Rocha Ghana (ARG), Dr Seth Appiah-Kubi, for damaging a section of the Atewa forest through experimental bauxite mining. According to him, the mining carried out was illegal. This is his evidence in a case brought by an environmental NGO and 10 orders that aim to prevent the government from approving any mining operations in the Atewa forest.
