Atlas Metals Group plc has terminated its proposed acquisition of Universal Pozzolanic Silica Alumina Ltd (UPSA), ending a transaction first announced in June 2025, as the company shifts its acquisition focus towards lithium and graphite assets in Africa and South America. The natural resources and energy company said the decision followed recent due diligence difficulties and actions by UPSA representatives that it believes materially changed the merits and viability of the transaction. Atlas Metals is also seeking to recover material amounts owed to it by UPSA. The proposed acquisition was initially announced on June 17, 2025, with the signing of a conditional share purchase agreement (SPA) disclosed on September 10, 2025. The third quarter brought a clear improvement in global alumina production. It did not, however, bring production back to the level recorded a year earlier. Global alumina output has reached 114.625 million tonnes in the first nine months of 2026, down 330,000 tonnes or 0.29% (114.955 million tonnes in 2025) year-on-year. China's estimated production increased, but declines across most other reporting regions erased that gain. The quarterly sequence reveals how the production gap has developed. In the July to September 2026 quarter, alumina output reached 39.396 million tonnes, an increase of 5.54% over the preceding quarter. Yet the same quarter in 2025 had delivered 39.675 million tonnes. The latest production total was therefore 279,000 tonnes lower Y-o-Y. The first quarter of 2026...

Festo, a leading German industrial control and automation firm headquartered in Esslingen am Neckar, is providing PM Metal with new welding cells made up of aluminium as a retrofit to use in the existing systems. As per the company, the tubing provides a weld-spatter-resistant alternative to laminated and steel pneumatic tubing. The tube may be placed near the welding process, allowing for a more effective pneumatic setup while avoiding burn-through. The tubing has a nominal OD to avoid clearance issues and is intended to work with conventional pneumatic push connections right out of the box, so no additional equipment or bigger connectors are required. The tubing keeps its shape and stays in place without the use of extra clips or tie downs after it's been created. Since 2015, PM Metal...

A key geostrategic location, abundant natural resources, a young population, and a vital geopolitical position make Myanmar one of the fastest-growing economies in the Asia Pacific. The principal industries contributing to Myanmar’s economy are agriculture, mining and tourism. Aluminium foil is used at home for perishable foods and dairy products also for longer storage, to cover baking surfaces and to wrap foods, such as meats, to prevent them from losing moisture while cooking. The usage is not limited to food only; it can also be used to put on windows to keep the house cool during summer and hot during winter. The Southeast Asian nation, Myanmar imported aluminium foil of around 12,466 tonnes of aluminium foil during 2019-21, incurring revenue expenditure of $28.83 million for the...

The independent commodity analyst CRU has published a new report for the European aluminium industry pointing out negative impacts of a wrongly designed Carbon Border Adjustment Measure (CBAM). According to CRU, if CBAM covers indirect emissions and removes existing carbon leakage measures, European aluminium smelters will become cost uncompetitive. The study contains the complexities of CBAM regulation and forecasts the aluminium production cost to rise by 24 to 31 per cent. The report has strategically noted the impact of CBAM on primary aluminium and selected downstream products under individual scenarios. Given the unique challenges aluminium industry faces for being an energy-intensive production process, CRU report suggests an initial trial of CBAM on direct-emissions, as originally...

The F51 is the first aluminium shielded multi-storied skating zone opened in the south of England. At first glance, no one can determine that the insides of the structure are made of timber ramps, undulating concrete and unwieldy street furniture. The F51 designers, hailing from Folkestone Kent, were primarily ordered to build a car parking space which is why the construction resulted in a towering structure. But when the local skating park needed a place for relocation, this building though a bit odd fitted the requirement list. It is the home to skating bowls, pipes, ramps and wall rides, everything that a professional skater would die for nowadays. The arena also consists of a 15-metre high climbing wall hosting more than 30 graded routes for beginners and pros equal. The construction...
