Jharkhand Mining and Construction Show 2026
Jharkhand, located in eastern India, shares borders with West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Odisha. The state is among India’s fastest-growing regional economies and holds a dominant position in the country’s mineral landscape.
It accounts for around 40% of India’s mineral reserves and 29% of its coal reserves, making mining and mineral extraction the backbone of its industrial activity. Mineral production reached 138.15 million tonnes in FY23. Jharkhand’s resource base spans coal, iron ore, copper ore, uranium, mica, bauxite, granite, limestone, silver, graphite, magnetite, and dolomite. It is the only Indian state producing coking coal, uranium, and pyrite, and ranks second in hematite iron ore reserves with 26% of the national total.
The state also benefits from a strong geographic advantage, positioned near major eastern markets and close to key ports such as Kolkata, Haldia, and Paradip, enabling efficient mineral transportation and industrial connectivity.
