India Mines & Minerals Conclave 2026
The Indian mines and minerals sector is a vital pillar of the country’s economic and industrial development. India is endowed with a wide variety of mineral resources, including coal, iron ore, bauxite, limestone, manganese, chromite, zinc, copper, and several critical and strategic minerals. These resources form the backbone of key industries such as steel, power, cement, infrastructure, manufacturing, and emerging sectors like renewable energy and electric mobility.
Over the years, the Government of India has introduced a series of reforms aimed at improving transparency, enhancing ease of doing business, and encouraging private and foreign investment in mineral exploration and mining. Policy initiatives such as auction-based allocation of mineral blocks, commercial coal mining, and the promotion of exploration through public–private partnerships have reshaped the sector’s regulatory framework. Increased focus is also being placed on the development of critical and strategic minerals to reduce import dependence and strengthen mineral security.
Despite its potential, the Indian mines and minerals sector faces challenges such as exploration risks, regulatory complexity, environmental concerns, and infrastructure constraints. Addressing these challenges through policy stability, innovation, skill development, and stakeholder collaboration is essential. With continued reforms, responsible mining practices, and technological innovation, the sector is well positioned to contribute to sustainable and inclusive national development.
In this context, ASSOCHAM is organizing India Mines & Minerals Conclave with the theme ‘Shaping Transformation through Policy reforms, Sustainability & Strategic Security’ on 13th March 2026 at Hotel Swosti Premium, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
