From aluminium profiles to EV parts: Players in China’s extrusion landscape

Aluminium extrusion has become one of the most important downstream segments in the global aluminium value chain, feeding demand from construction, transportation, industrial manufacturing, renewable energy and electric mobility. As demand becomes increasingly diversified across these applications, the scale and sophistication of a country’s aluminium extrusion industry have become an important indicator of its downstream aluminium footprint.

China sits firmly at the centre of this market. AL Circle’s extrusion industry study put global extrusion capacity at around 49 million tonnes per year in 2023, with China accounting for nearly 64 per cent with a 30-million-tonne annual capacity, or about 31.07 million tonnes. Global extrusion consumption was estimated at 31.5 million tonnes, of which China represented about 66 per cent.

According to AL Circle’s estimates, China’s extrusion consumption increased from 20.94 million tonnes in 2023 to 21.47 million tonnes in 2024, projected to reach around 27.52 million tonnes by 2030.

Against this backdrop, China’s large and diverse pool of aluminium downstream companies is particularly important to watch.

1. Beijing Only Aluminium Industry Co., Ltd

It operates as an integrated aluminium processor, with activities spanning casting, die manufacturing, extrusion, surface treatment and fabrication. Its portfolio covers architectural and industrial profiles as well as applications in automotive lightweighting, rail transit, road transport, power and containers. The company reports more than 60 extrusion production lines across a wide range of capacities.

Only Aluminium supplies aluminium profiles and fabricated components for construction, transportation, automotive and industrial applications. Its downstream capabilities also extend to CNC machining, welding, sawing, punching and roll bending, allowing customers to source processed components rather than only extruded profiles.

2. Foshan Semoyo Metals Co., Ltd

Based in Foshan, it is a downstream metal-materials supplier serving construction, automotive, aviation and machinery applications. The company has more than 15 years of industry experience and exports to more than 30 countries, with aluminium profiles forming an important part of its portfolio.

3. Guangdong Fenglu Aluminium Co., Ltd

The company has developed into a large integrated aluminium-profile manufacturer covering R&D, production, sales and downstream processing. Its focus ranges from architectural profiles and system doors and windows to industrial materials and specialised aluminium alloys for aerospace and defence applications.

4. Jilin Jusheng Light Alloy Co., Ltd

The company supplies high-performance metallic materials to aerospace, automotive, electronics, oil and gas, construction and specialised markets, with aluminium included alongside magnesium in its material portfolio.

Bada’s model is closer to a one-stop materials supplier, offering raw ingots and billets through semi-fabricated products and secondary processing. Its services include extrusion, casting, rolling, machining, welding, anodising and coating.

7. Sinbro Materials

Sinbro Materials, a division of Jinan Youyue New Material Technology Co., Ltd, operates primarily as an aluminium distributor and processing supplier rather than a clearly established primary extrusion manufacturer. Its business is built around inventory, processing and global order fulfilment.

The company supplies aluminium plates, sheets, bars, rods and structural profiles in different alloys, sizes and shapes. Its offering is particularly notable for marine-grade and mould-grade aluminium, including specialised aluminium mould plate.

8. Wan Star Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd

It has built a broad aluminium production and processing portfolio over more than two decades. Its production base covers more than 160,000 square metres and the company reports annual production capacity of approximately 1.2 million tonnes.

9. Zhejiang Mingdao Aluminum Co., Ltd

The company is a Geely Technology Group subsidiary focused largely on aluminium sheet, strip and foil processing. It operates manufacturing bases in Taizhou, Zhejiang, and Zhongning, Ningxia, and serves automotive, aerospace, architectural, electronics and other industries.

10. Zhejiang Kaisite Technology Co., Ltd

Kaisite occupies a different position in the extrusion value chain: it specialises in the design and manufacture of aluminium extrusion dies rather than operating primarily as a profile producer. The company says it has 14 years of manufacturing experience and supplies tooling to domestic and international aluminium processors.

Solutions offered to customers

Its tooling portfolio covers architectural profiles, industrial profiles, automotive lightweight components, heat sinks, high-speed rail materials and photovoltaic solar frames. More recently, its solutions have included complex dies for EV battery trays, cooling plates and frames.

Technologies used

Kaisite combines extrusion simulation and CAE analysis with high-precision CNC machining, vacuum quenching and vacuum tempering. Its multi-cavity and specialised internal-structure dies are designed to control metal flow and achieve tight dimensional tolerances, including complex EV and automotive profiles.

As China’s aluminium extrusion industry accelerates, its aluminium extrusion ecosystem is worth watching not just for its 30-million-tonne annual output capacity, but for the range of technologies and downstream solutions emerging across its aluminium extrusion manufacturers.
