RUSAL started trial production of PEFA with 20 per cent of aluminium end-of- life scrap in early 2023 and has been gradually increasing the recycled content. The production technology is based on adding consumer scrap metal to the molten low-carbon ALLOW aluminium, produced with renewable energy. Its carbon footprint, times lower than market average, has been verified by independent globally trusted third party.

Strong performance and technical features of PEFA in aluminium wheels and structural components compared to primary foundry alloys is secured through prudent approach to scrap sourcing. The Primary Equivalent Foundry Alloys are in full alignment with OEMs’ strategic requirements linked to carbon neutrality commitments and promotes active participation of RUSAL, its partners and customers in the circular economy.

Driven by strong market demand for low-carbon aluminium, including from the largest global automotive parts suppliers, RUSAL is working on the expansion of its offering based on ALLOW brand. At the same time, we go further in our effort the meet the requirements of circular economy and gradually increase the share of end-of-life scrap, recycled metal in our products. Our portfolio includes a wide range of low-carbon foundry alloys that have already been tested and qualified by leaders in the automotive industry.

RUSAL is one of the largest producers of foundry alloys, offering an extended portfolio from wheel alloys to alloys for castings, piston alloys, proprietary alloys for both automotive and non-automotive applications. The company operates Research and Development Centres where metallurgy experts work to develop new alloys and to provide customer technical support, working on unique technical solutions in the frame of R&D projects.
