Since its inauguration in 2022 Almatis Falta facility has emerged as a cornerstone in the regional and global supply chain. This locally manufactured tabular alumina delivers unmatched quality, consistency, and just-in-time availability, addressing the evolving needs of India’s steel, cement, and technical ceramics industries.

Production in India, for India

Almatis' journey in India began in 1995 with a joint venture focused on tabular alumina processing. In 2007, the company acquired full ownership, establishing Almatis Alumina Private Limited. Recognising India's growing industrial demands and the government's 'Make in India' initiative, Almatis invested in a state-of-the-art, fully integrated tabular alumina facility in Falta, West Bengal. Completed in approximately 2.5 years, the plant commenced operations in November 2022, marking a significant milestone in Almatis' commitment to local manufacturing and supply chain integration. Strategically located to serve the Indian and Southeast Asian markets, the Falta facility underscores Almatis' dedication to delivering high-quality specialty alumina products while supporting the entire value chain from refractories to steel making and other high temperature applications, conducive for regional industrial growth.

First 2 years of excellence and premium quality

With an impeccable track record of quality and a commitment for continuous improvement in performance, the Falta plant reflects Almatis' unrelenting focus on reliability, sustainability, and service excellence. Backed by advanced technology and robust R&D, it ensures Indian customers receive premium products tailored for high-performance applications without relying on overseas supply chains.

In a remarkable achievement within just 2.5 years of operation, Almatis Falta was honored with the Special Jury Award at the CII 37th State-Level QC Circle Convention, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry. Competing among seasoned industry players, Almatis cross-functional team demonstrated outstanding problem-solving capabilities, presenting a compelling case on process improvement and operational excellence. Their ability to confidently address the jury’s queries reflected Almatis’ strong culture of quality and collaboration. Securing fourth place and qualifying for the Regional Finals, this recognition is a testament to Almatis’ unwavering commitment to Total Quality Management and building a high-performance, quality-driven organisation.
