Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Laminazione Sottile Group has been certified against the ASI Chain of Custody Standard V2 (2022). The facilities included in the certification are Laminazione Sottile S.p.A., Italcoat S.r.l., and IPS Industrial Packaging Solution S.r.l., which serve packaging, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, HVAC-R, automotive, aerospace, and construction sectors through the production and surface treatment of semi-finished aluminium coils, sheets, trays, and flexible packaging materials.

Processes include foundry operations, hot and cold rolling, thermal and chemical treatments, degreasing, coating, printing, slitting, and warehousing, with annual production of 130,000 tonnes of coils and sheets at Laminazione Sottile S.p.A., capacity exceeding 24,000 tonnes of coated aluminium coils at Italcoat S.r.l., and sales of 3,750 tonnes of aluminium foil products at IPS Industrial Packaging Solution S.r.l.

The ASI CoC Standard V2 sets out requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors. The implementation of ASI’s CoC Standard links verified practices at successive steps of the supply chain – certified under the ASI Performance Standard – to the materials produced by ASI Certified Entities.

The CoC Standard also confirms that appropriate policies and due diligence processes are in place to identify and address critical issues, such as corruption, human rights abuses, materials originating from conflict-affected and high-risk areas in the supply chain and support responsible sourcing.

The independent, third-party audit of Laminazione Sottile Group was carried out by Bureau Veritas Certification. A full listing of audit findings outlining evidence of conformances is available from page 5 of the summary audit report, linked below.

One minor non-conformance was identified during the Chain of Custody Certification audit under Criterion 1.7c Reporting to ASI (Inflows and Outflows of Non-CoC Material). Laminazione Sottile Group will be implementing corrective actions, to be verified in a follow-up audit.
