The International Organisation of Aluminium Aerosol Container Manufacturers (AEROBOL) has reported that the COVID-19 pandemic has not been much successful in affecting the global production of aerosol cans. The output declined only moderately in the first half of 2020, said the organisation.

“The very moderate minus represents a rather good result in view of the highly insecure markets with extremely cautious customers and consumers,” commented Gregor Spengler, Secretary General of AEROBAL.
Spengler said forthrightly that the consequences of corona-related lockdowns and restrictions were expected to have been worse for the aluminium aerosol containers market. But, instead, the value of a reliable and safe packaging material, such as the aluminium aerosol can, has been impressive enough during the unprecedented crisis.
He said, “Under the impression of the corona-related lockdowns and restrictions in public life with all their consequences for consumption, we would have expected worse results.”
“Instead, especially in this crisis, the value of a reliable and safe packaging material such as the aluminium aerosol can, which industry and consumers alike trust, has been impressively demonstrated,” Spengler added.
He also said, “In addition, our member companies have remarkably proven their convincing performance and delivery capabilities under extremely difficult conditions.”
However, AEROBOL noted that the pandemic left its mark on the markets that are important for the aluminium aerosol cans industry. For instance, the high-priced cosmetics sector has been one casualty as reduced professional and social contact has resulted in lower demand for cosmetic items like deodorants, perfumes, and hair care products.
