WINDALCO pensioners to lose health benefit, says NWU
According to Morrison, the former employees have been informed that the scheme will be suspended on January 21.
"How can you do this to people who, the youngest is 65 and the oldest 87 years old? This is the kind of thing that this company is up to," said the NWU president, who said that he had written to the company's country manager requesting a meeting. He added that the matter has also been reported to the Ministry of Labour.
When contacted, a local representative of WINDALCO said only personnel at their parent company could comment on the development, but efforts to reach the representatives of UC Rusal were unsuccessful.
