Weekly update: Alumina price in China ended the week flat; A00 aluminium price saw mixed performance

The alumina price in China continued to remain flat over the week. The price on Tuesday increased by RMB 12 per tonne to stand at RMB 2259 per tonne, after remaining flat on Monday. The price stood at RMB 2261 per tonne on June 18, up RMB 2 per tonne. The price did not show any movement on Friday.

Other raw materials like Bauxite (6.5≤Al/Si＜7.5)Guangxi, Alumina (Imported), Australian Alumina FOB Price, Prebaked Anode Central, and Al Fluoride are hovering at RMB 265 per tonne, RMB 2225 per tonne, USD 260 per tonne, RMB 2730 per tonne and RMB 7550 per tonne as of Friday, 19 June 2020.

A00 aluminium ingot price in China witnessed fluctuations over the week. The week started with an increase of RMB 20 per tonne from Friday to stand at RMB 13820 per tonne. The price continued to trend higher at RMB 13970 per tonne and RMB 14080 per tonne on Tuesday and Wednesday. The week ended lower at RMB 13910 per tonne on Friday, June 19, down RMB 60 per tonne from Thursday.

As updated by Shanghai Metals Market, social inventories of primary aluminium across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, continued to trend lower this week. Inventories came in at 754,000 tonnes in the week ended June 18, down 33,000 tonnes from Thursday June 11.
