
Vedanta Limited cut its aluminium ingot and aluminium products prices, with effect from Thursday April 21, soon after it raised the prices on the previous day. With effect from April 21, the company reduced its aluminium ingot price by INR 5,500 per tonne or 1.90 per cent to INR 283,250-330,750 per tonne. On April 20, Vedanta’s aluminium ingot price hovered around INR 283,250-330,750 per tonne, seeing an increase of INR 6,500 per tonne.

Vedanta’s aluminium wire rod price came in at INR 290,750-298,250 per tonne on April 21, down by INR 5,500 per tonne from INR 296,250-303,750 per tonne on April 20. Aluminium billet price saw no exception but a slash of INR 5,500 per tonne on April 21 to INR 291,250 per tonne.
Vedanta Limited links its aluminium products and aluminium ingot prices to the three-month futures of aluminium on the London Metal Exchange. So, in response to the decline in LME aluminium price by US$72 per tonne to US$3,240 per tonne on April 20, Vedanta has reduced its aluminium prices.
Vedanta’s aluminium business typically accounts for one-third of the company’s consolidated sales. Vedanta has a stake in Bharat Aluminium Co Ltd and smelters at Jharsuguda in Odisha. It commands a 40% share in India's primary aluminium market.
