Vedanta Aluminium wins Odisha Pollution Control Award for Jharsuguda township

Vedanta Aluminium has received the M.K. Rout Pollution Control Appreciation Award 2026 from the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB). The award was given in the Industrial Township category for Vedanta Meadows, the company’s residential township for employees in Jharsuguda.

Vedanta Meadows was designed with a focus on environmental responsibility and incorporates sustainable design features, extensive green spaces and systems for environmental management. The township provides residential facilities for employees and their families.

C Chandru, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, Jharsuguda, said sustainability remains central to the company’s growth plans in the region, with initiatives covering natural resource conservation, biodiversity, green spaces and environmental awareness.

He further added, “Our goal is to ensure that industrial progress and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. The recognition received by Vedanta Meadows motivates us to strengthen our efforts towards building sustainable industrial ecosystems that create lasting value for both people and the planet.” 

The company has also been working with local authorities on environmental awareness programmes. Recently, Vedanta Aluminium partnered with the Regional Office of the State Pollution Control Board in Jharsuguda and the District Administration to hold an Environmental Awareness Campaign 2026 at PKSS Higher Secondary School in H. Katapali.

The campaign included tree plantation, cleanliness drives, awareness sessions, street plays and community activities aimed at promoting sustainable practices among students and residents.

Vedanta Aluminium is also carrying out projects such as the Matrivan tree plantation initiative to increase green cover and support biodiversity in its operating areas.

The company is using technology to use resources more efficiently and reduce carbon emissions from its operations. These efforts are aimed at making its manufacturing operations more sustainable.
