Vedanta Aluminium veteran Rajiv Kumar has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Jindal Steel after completing a successful stint as Chief Executive Officer of Vedanta Aluminium. Kumar, who brings more than three decades of experience in the metals and mining industry, will now oversee the company’s manufacturing and mining operations.

The appointment combines experience from both the aluminium and steel sectors. Before joining Vedanta Aluminium, Kumar served as Vice President (Operations) at Tata Steel’s Kalinganagar plant. During his time at Vedanta Aluminium, he led the company’s aluminium business with a focus on capacity growth, operational improvements and higher production output.
At Jindal Steel, Kumar will be responsible for operations across the company’s steel plants and mining assets. His role will include improving plant performance, raising production efficiency and supporting ongoing expansion projects.
