
According to the latest report from the US Geological Survey, US domestic primary aluminium production stood at 75,000 tonnes in March 2021. The average daily output came in at 2,410 tonnes, down 3% month-on-month and 21% year-on-year.
Total aluminium recovered from scrap was 272,000 tonnes in March 2021, 10% more than that in February 2021, slightly less than the amount in March 2020, and 6% less than that in March 2019.
{alcircleadd}Of this, 155,000 tonnes of aluminium was recovered from new scrap and 117,000 tonnes was recovered from old scrap.
In March, the average U.S. spot market price of primary aluminium ingot was $1.18 per pound, 8% more than that in February 2021.
Inventories of primary aluminium in LME-approved warehouses, including off-warrant inventories, in the United States stood at 191,074tonnes in March 2021, from 195,873 tonnes in February 2021. Inventories of secondary aluminium (North American Secondary Aluminium Alloy Contract) decreased to 18,678 tonnes at the end of March 2021.
