
According to the latest data showed by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), North America’s primary aluminium production stood at 327,000 tonnes in April. That was a decrease of 1.8% or 6,000 tonnes from 333,000 tonnes in April 2020. On a monthly basis, the output slipped by 3.25% from 338,000 tonnes in March.

The primary aluminium stood at 1.313 million tonnes in the first four months of 2021, slightly down by 0.45% year-on-year. The output was 1.319 million tonnes in the first four months of 2020.
In South America, primary aluminium production was 95,000 tonnes in April 2021, from 71,000 tonnes in April 2020, marking a hike of 33.8% year-on-year. On a month-on-month comparison, aluminium production declined 3.06% from 98,000 tonnes in March.
Primary aluminium production in South America came in at 374,000 tonnes in the first four months of 2021, an increase of 6.86% from 350,000 tonnes in the first four months of 2020.
