
The United States domestic primary aluminium production in September 2021 stood at 72,000 tonnes, reflecting a dip of 1,000 tonnes or 1.37 per cent from 73,000 tonnes in August but remained essentially unchanged compared to the output last year, found the US Census Bureau data.

The daily average production in September was 2,390 tonnes, slightly more than 2,360 tonnes in the previous month. But on a year-on-year calculation, it stood lower by 0.83 per cent from 2,410 tonnes.
Total aluminium recovered from scrap in September 2021 was 272,000 tonnes, up by 1.87 per cent from 267,000 tonnes in August. Of this, 144,000 tonnes of aluminium was recovered from new scrap, and 129,000 tonnes recovered from old scrap.
In September 2021, the average US spot market of primary aluminium ingot was $1.63 per pound, 7 per cent more than $1.52 per pound a month ago and 75 per cent higher than $0.936 per pound in September 2020.

Inventories of primary aluminium in LME-approved warehouses, including off-warrant inventories, in the United States, decreased to 82,588 tonnes at the end of September 2021 from 91,860 tonnes at the end of August 2021. Inventories of secondary aluminium in LME-approved warehouses, including off-warrant inventories plunged to 9,257 tonnes at the end of September 2021 from 9,625 tonnes at the end of August 2021.
