US aluminium scrap exports to Canada grow 64% Q-o-Q in Q3 2020 despite a drop in September
According to the US Geological Survey, the United States aluminium scrap exports to Canada stood 4.94 per cent lower month-on-month to 6,740 tonnes in September 2020. In August, the US exported 7,090 tonnes of scrap to Canada compared with 5,540 tonnes in July 2020. This represents a hike of 28 per cent month-on-month in August 2020.
On a Year-on-year basis, the US aluminium scrap exports to Canada in September 2020 stood down by 15.86 per cent from 8,010 tonnes.
In the third quarter of 2020 (July-September), the United States aluminium scrap exports to Canada came in at 19,370 tonnes, up 63.74 per cent quarter-on-quarter from 11,830 tonnes.
During January-September, the United States aluminium scrap exports to Canada amounted to 52,700 tonnes, down by 25.25 per cent from 70,500 tonnes during the same period last year.
The United States total aluminium exports (including aluminium semis and flat rolled products) to Canada in September 2020 stood at 41,000 tonnes, bringing the exports to 119,700 tonnes in Q3 2020.
During January-September, the United States exported 337,000 tonnes of total aluminium to Canada, 16.17 per cent less than 402,000 tonnes year-on-year.
