Update-WINDALCO pensioners to lose health benefit, says NWU
Scores of pensioners protested outside the Ewarton plant in St. Catherine this morning over the suspension of their medical plan with the company.
The pensioners were removed from the company’s medical scheme effective January 21.
However, WINDALCO has claimed that the 900 pensioners were informed from as early as August 2010, that the benefits which included life insurance would have been discontinued with the winding up of the pension scheme.
President of the NWU Vincent Morrison told Power 106 News Centre that discussions are continuing with the management of WINDALCO.
