Ukraine exported 1.554 million metric tons of alumina in 2011, 7.9% more than in 2010, the government reported Wednesday.
The exported alumina was worth $527 million.
Alumina exports in December totaled 142,230 tons, 3.1% more than in November and 1.3% more than in December 2010. The alumina exported in December was worth $54.4 million, 3.1% more than in November this year. Most was exported to Russia.
In 2010 Ukraine exported 1.44 million tons of alumina, 3.2% more than in 2009.
Alumina in Ukraine is produced by the Mykolaev Alumina Plant and the Zaporozhye Aluminum Combine, both belonging to United Co. Rusal PLC (0486.HK).
The exported alumina was worth $527 million.
