
The U.S. exports of aluminium scrap registered 170,000 tonnes in April 2019, according to the latest report from US Geological Survey. The export volume increased 14.09 per cent from 149,000 tonnes exported in April 2018. On a month-on-month comparison, exports increased 4.29 per cent from March’s export volume of 163,000 tonnes.
Exports stood at 623,000 tonnes in the first four months of 2019, which was a 16.23 per cent increase from 536000 tonnes in the first four months of 2018.

China, South Korea and India remained to be the top three aluminium scrap importers from the U.S.
The U.S exported 44,800 tonnes of aluminium scrap to China, from 60,100 tonnes exported the previous year. Exports increased 15.76 per cent month-on-month. Aluminium scrap exports to China came in at 157,000 tonnes in the first four months of 2019.
The U.S. exports to South Korea and India stood at 24,600 tonnes and 21,400 tonnes in April 2019. In the first four months of this year, exports rose 35.36 per cent and 115.58 per cent year-on-year to stand at 93,400 tonnes and 83,000 tonnes.

On the other hand, the U.S. imported 53,100 tonnes of aluminium scrap in April 2019 as compared to 60,700 tonnes in April 2018. Total imports stood at 203,000 tonnes during January- April.
