EDITED BY : SARNALI CHAKRABORTY 3MINS READ

The use of aluminium plates, sheets and bars, also known as flat-rolled products, is widespread. They are used in the food and beverage sector for packaging, cookware, and appliances. The building and housing industries can employ sheets of this metal for siding, roofing, gutters, and other purposes. The exponential growth in global demand for aluminium has made sustainable metal management critical. Aluminium usage in almost all sectors has increased due to the urge to shift towards a more sustainable and greener environment.

As per the data uploaded by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the US imported 525,000 tonnes of aluminium flat-rolled products during the first half of 2023 (H1 2023). During the H1 2023 period, the top exporters included nations like China, Canada, Thailand, South Africa, Oman, South Korea, Turkey and Mexico.
