The US aluminium scrap import showed a positive trend in Aug/Sept/Oct’19

The American scrap import has shown a positive trend in Aug/Sept/Oct’19 with a total volume of 145,300 tonnes.

In August’19 the volume of scrap imports stood at 45,300 tonnes, whereas in September’19 the import was recorded at 47,600 tonnes, a rise of 5.07%, with 2300 tonnes in excess.
During October’19, the US aluminium scrap import was reflected at 52,400 tonnes, growth of 10.08% and by volume of 4800 tonnes from the previous month.
Though the trend is showing up, when compared with the previous year during September’18, there is a decline of 12.5%. The total import volume was recorded at 54,400 tonnes, an excess of 6800 tonnes from September’19.
The month of October’18 also showed a better import than October’19, with import volume recorded 60,500 tonnes. The downfall of scrap import in October’19 was 13.38% and by volume, it was 8100 tonnes lesser.
Canada is the highest exporter to America for aluminium scraps. The total volume of scrap import from Canada during Aug/Sept/Oct’19 stood at 98,100 tonnes. The US scrap import from Canada has been recorded 32.48% from its total scrap import volume.
