Suez UK, a pioneer in waste management through sustainable solutions and innovative technologies, has reportedly partnered with Alupro, the aluminium packaging recycling organisation, to revolutionise aerosol cans recycling in the United Kingdom.
{alcircleadd}Their primary focus is accelerating recycling rates through a two-year partnership to help the domestic aluminium packaging sector achieve stricter recycling targets, which are part of the upcoming policy reforms.
A report states that the United Kingdom uses approximately 650 million metal aerosols each year, primarily for household purposes. With the UK achieving a notable aluminium packaging recycling rate of 68% in 2023, there remains significant potential for increased aerosol recycling.
This is the possibility that the partnership between Suez UK and Alupro aims to unlock through practical solutions for capturing, sorting, and reprocessing aerosol cans.
According to AL Circle’s comprehensive report “World Recycled Aluminium Market Analysis - Industry Forecast to 2030”, the United Kingdom’s aluminium recycling is estimated to reach 1.6 million tonnes by 2030. Around 69 per cent of UBCs, 90 per cent of cars, and 96 per cent of scrap from the building are recycled in the UK. There are fourteen recyclers in the country, with Novelis having a capacity of over 200,000 tonnes per annum and Hydro 100,000 tonnes per annum.
