Sterlite Posts Higher Net Profit, Sales On Rise In Metals Prices

Sterlite's aluminum production fell to 61,000 tons in April-June from 63,000 tons, though higher product prices boosted gross profit to INR1.91 billion compared with INR840 million in the year-ago period.
Average aluminum prices increased to $2,600 per ton in April-June, compared with $2,092 per ton in the year-ago period, the company added.
The company said Vedanta Aluminium Ltd. produced 112,000 tons of aluminum compared to 77,000 tons, while alumina output in the previous quarter was 224,000 tons, compared with 204,000 tons.
