Spot alumina rises further on news of winter alumina capacity cut; A00 ingot falls for two consecutive days

According to a Shanghai Metals Market report, Shandong’s Liaocheng has issued winter output cut program for industrial enterprises. According to the program, Xinfa Group needs to close 564 electrolytic cells in winter heating season, or about 381,900 tonnes of capacity, which accounts for 30% of its total capacity (1.58 million tonnes).

SMM statistics shows that average spot alumina prices in China had a slight rise on October 18 to RMB 3702/t. On October 17, Chalco alumina price has increased further to RMB 3710/tonne from RMB 3690/tonne. In North China market spot alumina prices increased to RMB 3720/tonne. spot alumina prices remain unchanged in all other individual markets in China.

As for other raw materials are concerned, Average prebaked anode prices in East China, Central China, Southwest China and Northwest China market have remained flat at RMB4462.5/t, RMB4220/t, RMB4600/t and RMB4600/tonne.

Bauxite prices in Shanxi and Henan provinces have registered a rise and in all other provinces the prices have remained unchanged today. Australian bauxite prices remain unchanged at USD 45.9/tonne today.

The average price for A00 aluminium ingot drops further to RMB 16,010/tonne today for two consecutive days. A00 Aluminium Ingot in spot China market is trading at discounts of RMB 200 - 160/t. A00 aluminium ingot prices across all markets have dropped substantially today.

Keeping up with A00 aluminium ingot, SHFE 1711 aluminium fell on morning session today. This narrowed spot discounts in east China aluminium market to around 150 yuan/tonne. Aluminium in spot China market is trading at discounts of RMB 200 - 160/t. SHFE 1712 aluminium is expected to range within RMB 16,150-16,400/mt.
